Are Boxers Aggressive?

Boxers are perfect dogs for how they act, look, their size, and for a plethora of other reasons. They’re medium-sized dogs that act almost like larger-sized dogs.

Are Boxers aggressive? Yes, from what I’ve researched they have a tendency to try to take dominance, however, if you train it out of them at a young age you can avoid aggression when they are older.

Are Boxers Aggressive?

As noted, Boxers can be pretty aggressive dogs. This is mainly due to the fact of how they have a natural need to be the dominant animal in most scenarios. Meaning they want to be the alpha, even when they’re not around other dogs.

A lot of Boxers can avoid this issue if they’re properly trained and reassured that it’s okay to not have to be in complete control all the time. If your boxer is having aggressive issues, make sure you don’t yell at them.

If you yell or scream at them, this will make them think it’s okay to be loud or aggressive for no reason. They need to learn how to act by looking at how you act.

In simple terms, you need to lead by example. When they act up, be nice to them and assure them everything will be okay. Eventually, they’ll begin to understand what they can and can’t do.

If the issues seem to get worse over time, bring them to their veterinarian. The vet will be able to help them and understand if there are any more serious issues with them.

At the very least, they’ll be able to come up with solutions you might’ve not initially thought of to help your dog.

Other Characteristics of Boxers

Boxers are adorable and relatively decent-sized dogs. For their height, males grow up to 22 to 25 inches while females grow up to 21 to 24 inches.

Weight-wise, males weigh around 61 to 71 lbs while females weigh around 55 to 60 lbs. As for their average lifespan, they live around 10 to 12 years.

Boxers typically have a light brown with shades of white coat that is extremely thin. They don’t shed a ton and aren’t too bad on people with allergies.

Other than their natural dominant personalities, they can be very loving and great for a family. They can be very playful and love to go on walks.

In simple terms, they’re loyal, protective, and great dogs for just about any situation. Making them one of the greatest dogs to adopt.

Other Aggressive Dogs

Although any dog can be aggressive, breeds such as a Dalmatian, Akita, German Shepherd, Dobermann, and several others tend to be a bit more aggressive than others.

Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to read this article. If you were wondering: “Are Boxers aggressive?”, now you know the answer is yes.

However, keep in mind this doesn’t mean that all Boxers are aggressive. It just means their specific breed is more likely to be aggressive in comparison to other breeds.

All in all, they’re incredible dogs and you should consider adopting one.
